SINUVA Steroid Implant for Recurrent Polyps
The SINUVA sinus implant is a prescription steroid-releasing implant treatment for nasal polyps in adults who have had sinus surgery and suffer with recurrent polyps, but want to avoid more surgery. The dissolvable device pictured is implanted into the ethmoid sinus directly onto the surface of the polyps. As it dissolves over an extended period of time, about 3 months, the steroid bathes the inflammatory tissue, reducing the polyps.
The most common side effects of SINUVA include bronchitis, cold symptoms, middle ear infections, headache, lightheadedness or dizziness, asthma, and nosebleeds. Tell your doctor if you have any side effects that bother you or don’t go away.
